Tony Hobson has written two books on lanterns covering many of the lantern manufacturers and the lanterns they made. He also has a good price guide for the collector. Book two is not an update of book one but more good information for the collector. They cover many of the old Railroad, Marine, Fire, Carriage, Farm and other lanterns. A must for the lantern collector.

Jim & Sherie Van Es have obtained a portion of an old Mercantile Catalog and have reproduced the portion on lamps. The original catalog said: "We call particular attention to our Assortment of Rochester and B & H Lamps....." "We carry a Full Assortment of Lamp Goods of all descriptions; Library Lamps, Hall Lamps, Piano Lamps, Chandeliers, Brackets, Lanterns, Globes, Shades, Burners, Wicks, Chimneys and everything to make a Complete Stock in this line." This catalog consists of about 50 pages, 8-1/2" x 11," and shows lamps as they were offered around the turn of the century and the price at that time. Use it to compare your find with the original.
