Electrify a Rayo Lamp with No Damage
Materials needed to electrify your lamp may be
obtained at your local hardware store and include:
- Short brass lamp socket with no switch. I use Leviton
brand socket.
- 8 feet of lamp cord.
- Lamp plug. Make sure you buy one small enough to pass
through the wick tube.
- Touch Control switch. I like the one that just plugs
into the outlet.
- 1/2" felt stick-on furniture saver pads.
1~ Remove the flame spreader and set it aside.
2~ Wire the socket to one end of the wire and attach the
plug to the other end.
3~ Stick 3 furniture savers pads to the bottom of the
lamp. This should lift the lamp high enough for the wire to pass
under the lamp when you install it. If it isn't high enough add
another pad to each of the ones you have already applied, making
to bottom 2 pads high.
4~ Thread the plug through the wick tube from the top.
As you draw the wire through you will find that the socket just
fits into the tube. Wedge it in so that it won't move.
5~ Plug the lamp into the touch control and the touch
control into the wall outlet.
6~ Replace your chimney and shade.
I like to place the flame spreader in a plastic bag and attach
it to the cord so I don't loose it.
You're done, enjoy your lamp.
